Beware the 7 Deadly Sins of IT Integration

Over the years we’ve seen too many companies succumb to any number of these sins of data integration – big IT integration mistakes which can cost much time and money to rectify. In most cases these companies will be storing up significant problems for themselves which they will have to deal with in the future, or face the nasty consequences.

Luckily it’s never too late to turn it around – and this is where we come in. It is our job to step in to help companies sort out their integration infrastructure quickly – saving time, money, and in many cases saving reputations and increasing sales.

Is your organisation committing any of these deadly sins?

Lust – An overwhelming and unhealthy desire for something.

We get it- there are some good-looking systems out there. And it’s tempting to use one system for this and one for that and so on and so forth. But you need these systems to be seamlessly integrated to maximise their value. In this day and age it’s often unavoidable to have one system for CRM, another for marketing automation, still another for accounting. Integrella can integrate everything together, enabling your company to choose best of breed systems.

Envy – Jealousy and wanting what someone else has.

Don’t get distracted by the latest fad or by what your competitors are doing. Find the system that works for you and stick with it. While it’s always a good idea to keep an eye on the competition, ultimately you need to focus on your company and taking care of your customers. Integrella, can undertake a review to ensure you are getting the greatest value out of your current systems.

Anger – Annoyance and displeasure which could erupt into hostility.

Integration takes time to set up and maintain – be patient. Once in place, good IT integration will deliver more than the sum of it’s parts, and it will save you time and money. Be wary of companies which promise quick integrations – speed is good but efficiency is better. Integrella is an independent integration specialist who will advise you on the best platform to ensure optimum business impact.

Pride – Being too self-satisfied.

It’s great to have pride in your company, but taken too far it can lead to arrogance and self-deception. Don’t be deceived into thinking you don’t need help with your integration or that you can economically support it 24*7. Integration is a specialist field. Most companies don’t have the skills or training to be able to do this well. But at Integrella it’s all we do. We are experts at IT integration, so you don’t have to be. We’re very proud of this. But not too proud!

Sloth – Being too slow or lazy to do something.

Maybe you suspect that there is a problem with your integration environment but you don’t know how to diagnose or fix it. For example when a company has a number of IT systems which don’t connect to each other, such as CRM and invoicing, the problem is ignored because they don’t have in-house expertise on how to remedy the situation. Imagine how great it would be if an integration specialist could take the problem away from you?

Gluttony – The action of taking too much of something in.

We’re talking about quality versus quantity here. Do you really need to be using all those systems, or is there one which could do the work and streamline processes for you? Similarly, could you connect your systems in one integration project, rather than developing complex work-arounds (and possibly having to recruit more people to run these for you)? Don’t be a glutton for punishment – Integrella can help you develop a seamless SOA integration strategy.

Greed – Wanting too much of something.

You might become greedy when you hear about some new fancy CRM system which does something novel. But you have a different system at present which connects to your key enterprise systems. How can you keep the benefits, and make a transition from one system to the other? You might find that an integration is what you’re after… Integrella can run your whole integration project for you. Maybe it can even take away your need for the fancy new system?
